BAFTA Games Awards 2022 Nominations and more

BAFTA Games Awards 2022 or you could say the British Academy of Film and Television Arts revealed the nominees for this year’s video game awards this week itself. Diving right into it you must know that there is a neck-to-neck competition between Returnal and It Takes Two.

At BAFTA Games Awards 2022 ceremony in London people will be witnessing some tough competitions. These are mainly six top titles contesting for most awards: It Takes Two, Returnal, Deahtloop, Forza Horizon 5, Psychonauts 2, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. However, out these Returnal and It Takes Two dominate most categories with eight nominations each.

It Takes Two was quiet appreciated not just by critics but gamers as well for its co-op gameplay and well-designed puzzles. Since December it has already won two Game of the Year Awards. BAFTA Games Awards were no surprise, having recognized the recognized the game it has been given nomination in the Best Game category alongside Returnal, Deahtloop, Forza Horizon 5, Inscryption, and Ratchet & Clank. The game has been nominated in various other categories as well such as: for Animation, Artistic Achievement, Game Beyond Entertainment, Game Design, Multiplayer, Narrative, and Original Property.

On the other we have Returnal which happens to be a close competition of It Takes Two. Returnal was launched last April exclusively on PlayStation 5 garnishing mostly positive reviews. Apart from being a nominee for Best Game, BAFTA feels it is worthy of nominations for Artistic Achievement, Audio, Game Design, Narrative, Original Property, and Technical Achievement. Returnal previously won Best Action game at The Game Awards and walked away from D.I.C.E. with music and audio design awards.

In addition to the categories listed above, fans can vote in the “EE Game of the Year” of the year category. Your options include Chicory: A Colorful Tale, Deathloop, The Forgotten City, It Takes Two, Metroid Dread, and Unpacking (the criteria for how these games were chosen is somewhat unclear). Voting closes on April 1 at 11:59 PM.
