Gotham Knights All Confirmed Characters

Gotham Knights has been confirmed to release in 2022, and fans are already aware about several characters who’ll make appearences in the game.

DC FanDome gave many surprises to fans out of which one was a new trailer for WB Games Montréal’s long-awaited game, Gotham Knights. It gave players more information and insight about one of the most anticipated games since the launch of the new generation consoles of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S and hinted about some of the most formidable foes of Batman and team.

Well, it is very likely that the story will follow Batman’s demise, and his proteges taking the charge to protect the city. The trailer also revealed other familiar faces, friend and foe alike, who will make appearances, further increasing anticipation for this exciting chapter in Gotham City history.

Here is the list of all Gotham Knights confirmed characters:

Contents

10. Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin

Oswald Cobblepot A.K.A Penguin as we all know is a ruthless and weird crime boss in Gotham. If you just go by the looks of the character you might get deceived, as this often silly-looking dwarf is a threat not only to the city but Batman and hi allies as well.

The second trailer for Gotham Knights features a narration by Oswald, in which he talks to Nightwing about the Court of Owls. It is still unclear as how much contribution he would be having to the main story of the game, as in the previous has majorly been a side character.

9. Mister Freeze

To say the least, Victor Fries has a curious history. For some of Batman’s diehard fans Mr. Freeze could be one of the lamest villains. However, he has a compelling backstory that makes him one of the most tragic and ultimately sympathetic figures in DC Comics. His relationship with his wife, Nora, adds further layers to his characterization, making him a worthy foe for the Caped Crusader. Thanks to the universally panned but perhaps underrated Batman & Robin, his reputation took a hit, but he remains cool.

The first trailer for Gotham Knights revealed Freeze, hinting that he’ll perhaps be one of the game’s boss battles. He might even play a more significant role in the story, but it remains uncertain.

8. Alfred Pennyworth

Alfred Pennyworth is arguably the most trusted, reliable and important allies of the Batman. Over the years he has not only represented himself as the mentor and guide of Bruce Wayne but been a father figure for our heroes. Dick Grayson, in particular, considers him a second father and has a close relationship with him. Alfred raised Bruce and Dick while also providing guidance and support to all other of Batman’s trainees.

In enormous number of missions of Batman and friends, Alfred has taken the role of tech support, operating from the Batcave and providing helpful insights for the heroes. With Barbara back in active duty, Alfred’s role becomes all the more critical for the heroes’ missions.

7. Renee Montoya

We got to agree on one thing, Renee Montoya is not a very popular character in the Batman arch. Mainstream audiences might recognize Renee Montoya from 2020’s divisive Birds of Prey. If try grabbing some information from the comics then we learn that she’s a detective working in Gotham PD, eventually becoming the masked vigilante the Question and joining Batman Incorporated.

As per the trailer it seems like Montoya would be taking Jim Gordon’s role in most of the previous Batman Arkham games. She’ll most likely provide insight into the GCPD’s affairs, keeping the masked heroes in the light and providing them helpful information.

6. Dick Grayson A.K.A Nightwing

Dick Grayson was one of the best characters to debut in the Golden Age of comic books, becoming the role model for every sidekick to come. After leaving Batman and becoming the leader of the Teen Titans, he outgrew the Robin role and adopted the Nightwing persona, becoming Blüdhaven’s defender.

Nightwing will be one of the four main characters in the game. Both trailers show him with his signature electrified escrima sticks and showcase his unparalleled acrobatic abilities. Dick has a personal relationship with the Court of Owls because the Talon, William Cobb, is his great-grandfather. It’s still unclear if the game will feature this particular storyline, though.

5. Barbara Gordon A.K.A Batgirl

Like Dick, Barbara Gordon served as Batman’s apprentice. She is the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, whose unbreakable will made her one of Gotham’s mightiest heroes. Barbara abandoned the Batgirl identity after the Joker shot her, leaving her with paraplegia. She then became the Oracle, an information broker for other heroes.

Gotham Knights will take place after she resumes her Batgirl persona, following intense rehabilitation. She’ll wield a tonfa as her signature weapon and seek to honor her father’s legacy after his death. Barbara has an ongoing and uncertain relationship with Dick in the comics–together with Starfire, they even form one of the most famous love triangles in American comic books. However, it’s unknown if the game will feature their romance in any capacity.

4. Jason Todd A.K.A Red Hood

After Dick retires from the role, Jason Todd becomes the second Robin. Despite a positive initial reception, the character soon became one of the most hated heroes in Batman comics, and the writers killed him during the infamous A Death in the Family storyline. He’d return years later as the Red Hood, a violent and volatile anti-hero.

In Gotham Knights, Jason has already reconciled with the Bat-Family. Embracing Batman’s non-lethal methods, he seeks to rid Gotham of the rampant corruption. Jason is a weapons expert, proficient in multiple forms of combat. As a result of being revived by the Lazarus Pit, he is virtually immortal.

3. Tim Drake A.K.A Robin

Following Jason’s death, Tim Drake became the third Robin. Out of the many people who assumed the mantle over the years, Tim might be the one who represents it the best. Even after he grows up and seeks to find an identity of his own, Tim retains a part of Robin, becoming Red Robin.

Despite being the youngest of the four, Tim is the smartest. He’s a technological genius and the best detective in the group. He has a deep admiration for Batman and generally avoids seeing his flaws. In Gotham Knights, Tim will seek to become the hero Gotham needs, especially after Bruce’s death.

2. The Court Of Owls

The New 52 might not be particularly beloved among fans, but the reboot did introduce several intriguing ideas to the Batman lore, including the Court of Owls. Comic book fans know the Court as a conspiracy of wealthy socialites that has controlled Gotham City since colonial times. The Court kidnaps child circus performers and trains them to become their assassin enforcers, the Talons.

Since their introduction in 2011, the Court has become increasingly prominent in Batman stories. Gotham Knights will feature them as the game’s primary antagonists. The Talons will also appear, although it’s unknown if Dick’s great-grandfather, William, will be among them.

After the second trailer there is no doubt that The Court of Owls will likely be the most promising Gotham Knights confirmed Characters.

1. Batman

The protagonist of the franchise is a shadow that looms over Gotham. For years, the Caped Crusader remained one of the best superheroes ever, an unmovable force of justice unlike any other. Batman at times acts like a villain, but he always has a bigger plan. He trusts no one but has faith in everyone. Heroes may come and go, but Batman remains, forever doomed to fulfill his never-ending mission.

The premise behind Gotham Knights is that Bruce Wayne is dead. He leaves a message for his former proteges stating that Gotham is now in their hands, asking them to continue his legacy. However, fans doubt that Bruce really is dead; he is Batman, after all. Players will find out if he did meet his end when Gotham Knights finally debuts at some point in 2022.

Though, Batman is yet to be confirmed to feature in the game, but our excitement couldn’t stop us from putting him at his deserving top stop for the list of Gotham Knights confirmed characters.
