ONEPLUS 8 AND 8 PRO REVIEW AND COMPARISON
OnePlus is a Chinese brand ,and has been at the top of its game ever since it stepped into the smartphone market.
Last year, OnePlus launched 4 different variants of , namely, the standard OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7t ,and 7t Pro, where the standard 7 and 7t were appreciated, both the pro variants had to receive some backlash.
This year, with OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, Oneplus is ready to rumble, as it claims that these two phones come under the category of flagships and have everything to make them smartphones of the year.
Now some people might have questions like, Which is better OnePlus 7t or 8? or Should I buy OnePlus 8 or wait for 8t? or maybe Is OnePlus 8 worth the price?
In this review, we will be discussing and comparing the performance design, specifications, camera price, etc of the two smartphones.
First things first, there are not many major differences between OnePlus 8 Specs and OnePlus 8 Pro Specs.
OnePlus 8 Pro, has a refresh rate of 120hz compared to the 90hz refresh rate of standard 8, which makes it a little smoother to operate. Moreover, its Quad HD plus resolution(which OnePlus 8 lacks) makes it slightly more promising as far as the viewing experience is concerned.
Above that, both the phones are 5G enabled. As far as IP68 water resistance rating is concerned then, the Pro model has verified certificate with whereas, in case of the standard variant, then only OnePlus 8 Verizon, gets that certification.
The standard model is less expensive compared to OnePlus 8 Pro’s Price.
DESIGN:
There is no doubt about the fact, that both the phones look amazing and quite similar.
Talking about the design of OnePlus 8. It has a typical design language of OnePlus, with a vertical triple camera set up in the back, OnePlus logo underneath it ,and a bold branding at the lower end of the phone.
Apart from this, the left side of the phone consists of a power button and the legendary slider of OnePlus, whereas on the right side of the phone you will find the volume rocker.
A speaker grill, a dual SIM tray, a charging port have been placed at the bottom of the phone ,and a selfie camera notch at the left upper corner of the front side of the phone.
Now the OnePlus 8 Pro’s design is almost a replica of 8, with Gorilla Glass protection in the front and back just like the standard version.
Now from a form factor perspective, they are very close, yet somewhat different. The standard 8 version is slightly lighter than the Pro variant and the screen size is also smaller.
Both the phones have curved screens, but the 8 Pro has slightly more curved edges. Moreover, the camera hump of the Pro variant is also bigger and is supported by some sensors and a flashlight.
OnePlus 8 Pro comes with mat finish which makes it resistant to fingerprints. On the contrary the glossy standard variant attracts more fingerprints.
Despite that, The OnePlus 8 interstellar glow version surely grabs eyeballs as it is extremely reflective and seems like, hundred different colors have been painted all over the phone.
CAMERA PERFORMANCE:
OnePlus 8 has a triple-camera set up, whereas, 8 Pro has a quad-camera set up.
There is no telephoto lens in the standard 8 and the ultra-wide shots are also not as sharp as Pro version.
The daylight shots of both phones clicked from the main camera are very closely matched, with both being equally unsaturated or over-saturated, depending upon the A.I of the camera.
Both the smartphones disappoint, when it comes to low light pictures, keeping in mind the prices of the phones.
Portrait mode and selfie cameras of the two phones are comparable.
Apart from that, both phones support 4K video recording at 30fps and 60fps, which is one more similarity between the two phones.
