Sony PlayStation Showcase 2021: Biggest Announcements and Trailers

Sony PlayStation Showcase 2021: Spider-Man 2, God of War: Ragnarok, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves, Grand Turismo 7 and more.

Sony recently hosted the PlayStation Showcase 2021 where it revealed some of the biggest names in the gaming industry for its current generation console, PlayStation 5. To name a few: God of War: Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2, Gran Turismo and a remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and more. However, Sony still has not discussed much about the next generation PlayStation VR.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Ever since, Spider-Man: Miles Morales came out and shined, people started speculating about the possible release of Spider-Man 2, and here is a good news. Sony and Insomniac have released the first trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man 2 for PS5. It will come out in 2023.

In the trailer, we see Peter Parker and Miles Morales are fighting against some random goons. They make a good team and do some really cool moves. It would be fantastic if either we are able to switch between characters like GTA V or there is a co-op gameplay mode.

Also in the trailer, we get to see Venom. Spoilers for those who have not played the first Spider-Man (2018), by the end of the game we get an idea of possible appearance of Venom in Spider-Man 2.

Marvel’s Wolverine

Insomniac has already been going places with Spider-Man Franchise. Now, the studio has revealed about its next big venture apart from Spider-Man 2 from the Marvel universe and, it has simply been titled Wolverine. At this stage we don’t have much information about the game apart from, the fact that Logan has very hairy arms. wears a hat and looks as cool as he should, sitting in a bar after putting some smart asses down who trying to act funny with him.

Given the studio’s track record, a highly action packed MCU style narrative can be expected.

God of War: Ragnarok

The trailer of the game we all had been desperately waiting for is finally out. Santa Monica has finally revealed a complete story trailer of God of War: Ragnarok, and there is some much to collect from the trailer. And from what we can make out from the trailer, Atreus is desperately curious, and wants to understand who he is more than anything. Kratos, still bearing the knowledge of his past mistakes, wants to spare Atreus the bloody lessons he learned from his conflict with gods. And of course, a death battle between Thor and Kratos is something we are all looking forward to.

Forspoken

A new trailer for Forspoken was also revealed at Sony PlayStation Showcase 2021, giving a closer look at the story of Luminous Productions’ debut action-adventure.

According to the trailer, Frey appears to have a very difficult life, but it gets even crazier as she gets teleported from Holland Tunnel to the fantasy world of Athia.

Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo 7 was also showcased during Sony’s event with a new trailer. The head of PS Studios Hermen Hulst mentioned that the game will be releasing on March 4th, 2022. Apart from some exquisite locations the trailer shows off cars that we’ll only be to drive virtually.

Ghostwire: Tokyo

Ghostwire: Tokyo is yet another pretty terrifying trailer emerged during Sony’s PlayStation Showcase too. It shows otherworldly beings possessing people and more of the first-person action you can expect from this paranormal tale. Fun for all the family.

Alan Wake Remastered

Sony debuted the first trailer for Alan Wake Remastered at its PlayStation Showcase on Thursday. If you’re not familiar with the plot of Alan Wake, here’s the YouTube description for Thursday’s trailer:

Fortunately, you won’t have long to wait until you can play the game for yourself — Alan Wake Remastered is coming to PlayStation 4 / 5, Xbox Series S / X, and the Epic Games Store on PC next month, on October 5th. The remastered version offers 4K visuals and packs in both story expansions, The Signal and The Writer.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Remastered

GTA V remaster is yet another game revealed at Sony PlayStation Showcase 2021. The PS5 version of the masterpiece will see Michael, Franklin, and Trevor back on the streets of Los Santos, and looking better than ever. The game was supposed be released on November 11, 2021, but the new trailer points to a March 2022 release date.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection

The two most recent Uncharted games, A Thief’s End and Lost Legacy, are being remastered. The surprise is that they’re not just coming to the PS5 but also the PC. The collection is expected early next year.
