WHY NO BAN ON PUBG IN INDIA ?

Player Unknown’s Battleground or famously known as PUBG was released on December 20,2017 for Microsoft windows but fully released for Android and iOS later, on March 19, 2018 as the mobile version.

PUBG corporation runs several tournaments for its lovers, although the game has been banned in some countries like Pakistan, Iraq, China and for some time also got banned in countries like Nepal and also in some parts of India, but later got lifted. These countries banned PUBG due to the highly addictive nature of the game, which many people felt was having a bad impact of the younger generation.

According to a report, China stood at number one position, with highest number of PUBG players followed by India until 2017, after which China imposed a ban over the game making India the title holder of country having highest number of PUBG players.

This game has around 50 Million daily active users and 600 Million downloads worldwide as of March 2020.

Now the important question arises. When top Chinese apps and social media platforms like TIKTOK, HELO, WeCHAT and SHEIN along 55 others came within the ambit of the ban, how did PUBG managed to escape it ?

The answer is that this app was not made in China. It is only marketed, and invested by China. Therefore, it is not entirely a Chinese app.

It was actually created and managed by a company named Bluehoole which originally is a South Korean organization. Once the game got popularised, Tenecent Holding, a Chinese multinational conglomerate { owning multiple businesses } company decided to collaborate with them and owned a large proportion of the game’s distribution.

These could been some of the reasons for not putting a ban on PUBG and unintentionally saving the interests of millions of PUBG lovers in India.

Here are some of the details of the game:

DEVELOPER– PUBG corporation
DESIGN– Brendan Greene
ARTIST– Jang Tae – seok
ENGINE– Unreal Engine
