SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 20 5G SERIES
The Galaxy Note series and the Galaxy S series are the two Flagship series by Samsung.
Samsung continued its custom of launching its Galaxy S20 series in the first quarter of the year, and releasing the Galaxy Note 20 series in the second-last quarter of the year.
Note 20 5G series, was one of the most anticipated and the most awaited smartphone series of 2020.
The predecessor of Note 20, which was the Galaxy Note 10, was a huge success and was well accepted and appreciated.
Unlike Galaxy S20, the Galaxy Note 20 series comes with only two variants, the regular Note 20 and the Note 20 Ultra.
There are some significant differences between the two devices.
For example, the Note 20 Ultra gets a QHD+ Display along with 120hz of refresh rate (however, you can you the 120hz refresh rate only with FHD+ display), the Galaxy Note 20 gets an FHD+ display with only 60hz of refresh rate.
Besides that, there is also a remarkable improvement in the S-pen feature of the two phones, where the reaction time while using the S-pen in Note 20 has been reduced to merely 26 milliseconds, Note 20 Ultra takes it even further with the reaction time of around 9 milliseconds.
People making heavy usage of S-pen might find a noticeable difference in the two devices.
The least to say, these are two very different phones.
DESIGN:
There isn’t much difference in the sizes of the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, as the former is 6.36 inches, and the later stands tall at 6.49 inches.
The sizes of the screens of the two phones are also pretty close, where Note 20 gets a screen of 6.7 inches with a screen-to-body ratio of 89.2% and, the Note 20 Ultra gets a screen of 6.9 inches with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.7%.
However, there is a significant difference in the overall design and form factor of the regular variant and Ultra model.
With Gorilla Glass 5 protection in the front and Polycarbonate plastic back with mate finish, the Galaxy Note 20 does not have an amazing built quality compared to its price.
On the other hand, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra gets the protection of Gorilla Glass Victus (the latest Gorilla Glass protection, which is believed to be twice as strong as the previous generation Gorilla Glass) in the front and back.
As far as the design and form factor is concerned then, the Note 20 has flat edges and more rounded corners, whereas the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra gets more curved edges, cutting sharp corners and, stainless steel frame, that gives it a more premium feel.
Moreover, the camera module of the Note 20 Ultra is also bigger and sticks out more compared to the regular Note 20.
Talking about ports and buttons, then both the phones are similar in that aspect, where you get a microphone, Type-c port, speaker grill and the legendary S-pen (which has now been shifted to left from right), at the bottom of the phone, and a Hybrid SIM card tray and noise-canceling microphone on the top.
On the right, you get a volume rocker and a power button, whereas the left side is clean with no ports and buttons.
CAMERA PERFORMANCE:
Both the smartphones have Triple camera setups in the back with some differences in megapixels and aspect ratios.
The standard Note 20 gets a 12MP wide lens; 64MP telephoto lens with 3X hybrid zoom and 12MP ultra-wide lens.
Being more superior, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra gets a 108MP wide lens; 12MP periscope telephoto lens with 5X optical zoom/ 50X hybrid zoom and 12MP ultra-wide lens.
The major difference that lies between the two devices, is the zoom feature.
Though the Galaxy Note 20 can shoot great high-resolution pictures with 64MP telephoto lens at 3X hybrid zoom and 30X maximum zoom. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra goes even further beyond, where it can shoot pictures with 108MP telephoto lens at 5X optical zoom and 50X hybrid zoom.
The selfie cameras and all the other features in both smartphones are the same.
